Preparing For Your Hot Tub Delivery

All hot tubs and swim spas are shipped common carrier (tractor trailer)  to your curbside.  You will be contacted by the carrier in advance of delivery and you must be present to receive it.  While damage is rare, you should inspect the package thoroughly because once you've signed off on the delivery, you have accepted that the tub has been delivered "undamaged" and future claims of damage will not be accepted.

If you live on a narrow street, a remote area, an island, or any place that would impair delivery, you may be charged additional handling charges. If you are not present to receive the hot tub, you may be charged for redelivery.

Delivery day will be a big deal, you'll need to be ready.  Your standard hot tub will be delivered curbside by a common carrier with  a lift gate.  You'll need people and possibly equipment on hand to help handle your hot tub  and move it where you intend to set it.  The truck driver will NOT be involved in these activities.  His responsibility ends with bringing the hot tub to the lift gate and lowering it to the ground, and rolling it off.

Your hot tub will come from the factory mounted on a pallet, so arranging for a fork lift, pallet jack, Dollies,  will probably be necessary.  Professional hot tub movers are also an answer for some.

If the hot tub must go up stairs, or over a fence (or house)  a crane may be necessary.  Even if using equipment you'll want helping hands there to facilitate setting the hot tub in place.  This really not a terribly expensive option.  Usually under $500.

To get an idea of ways to get your hot tub where you want it, YouTube has some good videos to give you an idea of the task at hand.  Some are hilarious, some are useful, some are scary! You will find some interesting innovations and ideas of how to get your hot tub in position.  The most successful deliveries are accomplished with two people and an appliance mover(a dolly with 4 castor wheels and carpeted rails.)

Swim spas are also delivered by common carrier but without a lift gate.  One common method for unloading is to hire a flatbed wrecker that can pull the swim spa from the back of the tractor trailer onto the flatbed. There will be straps on the Swim spa to allow for this.  The flatbed can transport the Swim spa to the location and lower it to the appropriate base you have prepared for it and lower it gently to the ground.  You will need to have help to adjust the placement.
